Today, the Nobel Committee awarded TEDxIITKharagpur speaker and children’s rights activist Kailash Satyarthi the Nobel Peace Prize, together with 17-year-old girls’ education activist Malala Yousafzai (watch the TED2014 talk by Yousafzai’s father here).

Satyarthi spoke at the January 19, 2013 event, held at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, about his work for children’s rights and against child labor, trafficking, and servitude. He is the founder of Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), an organization¬†dedicated to ensuring the rights of children and assisting the victims of child slavery and exploitative child labor with rehabilitation and education.¬†Read a profile of Satyarthi and his work by the BBC here.
