Day 1: 500 TEDx’ers gather at CERN

In December, TEDx’ers from around the world traveled to Geneva, Switzerland for a weekend of knowledge sharing, big questions and new connections ahead of TEDGlobal>Geneva, the first TED Conference in Switzerland. Two days before the conference, 500 TEDx’ers — some veteran, some new — met at the campus of CERN, the particle physics laboratory home to TEDxCERN, for deep dives, discussions, meet-ups and activities.

Day 2: A tribute to peace

On Monday, with one day left until TEDGlobal>Geneva, TEDx’ers gathered at the Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies’ Maison de la paix building for a session of talks on peacebuilding, curated by TEDxMidAtlantic organizer Nate Mook. TEDGlobal speaker and TEDxPlacedesNations organizer Melissa Fleming spoke on how the event is working to highlight global good and address world problems and many other TEDx’ers spoke on how peace plays into their event planning and purpose.

Day 3: TEDGlobal>Geneva

Prior to the big conference, TEDx’ers sat in on a TED speaker rehearsal at the main venue — The Bâtiment des Forces motrices. TEDx’ers got to ask questions, hear staff feedback and learn more about curating a TED Conference. After a short break, TEDx’ers returned to watch the sessions, filled with speakers and performers whose identities had been kept secret until the event.

“The talks were just amazing,” writes TEDxAlmendraMedieval organizer Cristina Juesas in a blog post about her experience, “as was the whole event, brilliantly conducted by Bruno Giussani, TED European Director. Also the performances, by Elizaveta and Yilian Cañizares, were fantastic. We were in the mood for something great, and it happened.”
