What happens when you get a lot of TEDx’ers together? A lot of big dreams and innovative ideas. Which is what happened this week at TED2016: Dream, when organizers from Athens, Hyderabad, Moscow, Reset, Singapore and many, many more places around the globe gathered together for a special pre-TED workshop.
On the Sunday before TED, organizers from teams all over the world headed to TELUS Garden, an eco-friendly office space famous in downtown Vancouver for a day of big dreaming. After coffee, conversation, food and welcoming remarks from TEDx Executive Director Jay Herratti, attendees gathered in small groups to share exciting innovations coming from the TEDx events and strategies for invigorating their communities. Conversation continued over a group lunch, and then afternoon breakouts focused on brainstorming opportunities for the TEDx community as a whole.
Next, TEDx’ers took a shuttle to the TED2016 venue and took part in a behind-the-scenes tour — sitting in on speaker rehearsals, speaking with TED staff and getting a sneak peek of the conference set-up. After the tour, TEDx’ers headed to Tacofino Commissary for an evening reception, where conversation continued and excitement built for the first day of TED2016.
