For their second event, the team at TEDxBahcesehirUniversity in Istanbul, Turkey wanted to make a teaser video that showed off not only their university, but also their city — its culture, heritage, residents and notable sites. The team — made up of 28 Bahcesehir University students and four students from a neighboring college — came up with a plan: they’d take their event logo on a tour of Istanbul, inserting it into everyday life.

In the video, the TEDx x sees markets, food stalls, the metro, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, the waterside and more. The video was shot in over 20 locations in two continents, says organizer Batuhan Çevik. “We started the recording from our engineering faculty terrace,” Çevik says, “and finished recording on the top of the communication faculty building.”

The video took three weeks to shoot and a week to edit, says Çevik. It was released this month on the event’s Facebook page, in advance of their event on April 2. This year’s TEDxBahcesehirUniversity is themed “Change” (“Değişime” in Turkish) and will be the team’s biggest event to date, with 285 people gathering on the Bahcesehir University campus for talks from 11 speakers.
