As part of their 2016 design strategy, the team at TEDxOporto in Porto, Portugal has made an effort to “TEDxOportify” the community’s social media profiles. The team created a custom template that incorporates the TEDxOporto artwork to allow anyone involved with the event to show off their TEDx pride.
“This is a great way to show a sense of belonging to this great event,” says organizer Norberto Amaral, who has TEDxOportifyed his Facebook profile photo himself. The team not only provides photo assistance, but also caption suggestions and a link for TEDx’ers to share their own custom profiles.
The idea for the campaign arose while designing the event website. “We decided that all the speakers’ pictures should be framed with an image related to this year’s event,” Amaral said. When the page went live, the team thought, “Why stop at speakers?” Once the team’s pictures were ready, inspiration struck and they decided to make the customization available to all volunteers and attendees.
Amaral said they were expecting around 1,000 people at TEDxOporto this year and feels the sea of red and white photos not only show off TEDxOporto’s original design, but it also communicates the bond between this diverse group of speakers, volunteers, and attendees — a group dedicated to ideas worth spreading.
The team created a template and encouraged anyone interested to “TEDxOportify” their own photographs. TEDxOporto provided artwork, advice, a suggested caption, and a short link for participants to share: http://bit.ly/TEDxOporto16.
